James McCaffrey, renowned for voicing the iconic character Max Payne in the popular video game franchise and his appearances in television shows like Rescue Me, has passed away at the age of 65. The sad news was confirmed by his talent agent, David Elliot, who stated that McCaffrey died at his home in Larchmont, a New York suburb, surrounded by family and friends. His wife, actor Rochelle Bostrom, revealed that he lost his battle with myeloma, a type of cancer affecting white blood cells.
McCaffrey had a prolific 35-year career in television and film, with notable roles in Blue Bloods and Suits. In the FX drama series Rescue Me, he portrayed a New York City firefighter killed on September 11, appearing to Denis Leary’s main character over the show’s seven-season run.
Beyond his on-screen work, McCaffrey gained recognition for lending his voice to Max Payne, the gritty and iconic character in the video game series of the same name during the early 2000s.
