BSF Shoots Down 103 Drones on Pakistan Border in 2023

Border Security Force (BSF) has successfully shot down 103 drones in the Punjab sector along the Indo-Pak international border this year, with over 350 Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) spotted entering Indian territory. To enhance security measures, the BSF has modified its Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) due to foggy conditions, relying more on human intelligence and utilizing thermal imaging cameras to monitor potential cross-border infiltration.

BSF troopers are maintaining vigilance from elevated platforms to prevent intruders from crossing the international border into Indian territory. Special operation teams patrol areas behind the international border fence, and check posts (nakas) are strategically positioned deep within villages to apprehend infiltrators with the help of local residents. Increased troop deployment, vulnerability mapping, and the installation of thermal imaging cameras and advanced surveillance equipment aim to deter intrusions, with a comprehensive database aiding in identifying vulnerable areas and individuals involved in illegal activities.

In addition to drone interceptions, the BSF has made significant strides in curbing illegal activities along the border. Operations in 2023 have resulted in the seizure of 755 kg of narcotics, recovery of 15 assorted rifles and 38 pistols, apprehension of 36 Pakistani nationals, and neutralization of nine intruders from across the border along the international border.
