The Abu Dhabi Police has launched a new initiative to cancel black points registered against minor traffic offences rules are all set for July 1.
The officials said on Sunday that all black points in minor traffic violations registered against drivers on Abu Dhabi roads will be cancelled. Except for big traffic offences like reckless driving, jumping red lights, driving at excessive speed, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Brigadier Ali Khalfan Al Dhaheri, director-general of central operations at Abu Dhabi Police said: “The initiative to cancel black points will benefit all drivers that have committed minor traffic offences in Abu Dhabi.”
A part of Abu Dhabi Police’s initiatives for ‘The Year of Giving’, the move is intended to give drivers a chance to clean up their acts and start to abide the traffic rules and regulations. Al Dhaheri said the new initiative will motivate violators into changing their behaviour.
