Minister of State (independent charge) Swati Singh of Yogi Adityanath ministry comes under fire as media reports about her of inaugurating a beer bar.
Yogi Adityanath sought explanation the other senior officials to seek an explanation from government officials present at the event.
“Taking note of the media reports, CM Adityanath Yogi has asked Minister Swati Singh to explain her position on the entire issue,” an official release from the government said, adding that the CM has also directed senior officials to seek an explanation from the senior officials present at the event.
Reports of Swati Singh having inaugurated a beer bar along with an IPS officer couple at present serving as police chiefs of Raebareli and Unnao districts -Gaurav Singh and Neha Pandey -respectively had earlier made headlines on the social media and news portals.
The event took place in Gomtinagar area of the state capital on May 20.
Inspector general of Lucknow Range, Jai Narain Singh said he had called for explanation from two SPs posted under him for attending the opening of a beer bar in Gomtinagar without taking permission from higher ups.
While IPS Gaurav Singh had taken permission to leave on May 21, he was caught in photographs which have gone viral in internet attending the ceremony a day before. Similarly, his wife IPS Neha Pandey too attended the ceremony. “She had not taken permission,” said IG range.
Normally district SPs have to inform their seniors in case they leave headquarters for a prolonged period for some work. The couple was also reminded that as a police officer they should not have attended opening of an establishment such as liquor shop or bar.
