Government only has schemes like ‘Stand Up India’, ‘Sit Down India’, not employment: Rahul Gandhi

In a strong attack on the Narendra Modi-led central government over the creation of jobs, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi said that there have been long speeches but nothing has been done for employment generation in the country. In a video shared by a news agency on Monday.

Rahul Gandhi was seen addressing a gathering in which he targetted the Modi government and mentioned that the PM has made many announcements of schemes on various occasions but to little effect. Taking a jibe at the PM and Centre he said, “Government has many schemes; Start Up India, Stand Up India, sit down India, move left India, go right India but no employment generation.” Congress VP added, “Big speeches that are hollow”.

Rahul Gandhi also accused the Centre of pushing aside those “who attempt to speak the truth and stand for it”. While attending a National Herald newspaper inauguration event, he said the central government is responsible for “forcing everyone into silence with Dalits being beaten up, minorities frightened and journalists and bureaucrats threatened”.

He alleged government was not allowing journalists to write the content as per their wishes. He said that thousands of journalists told him that they were not being allowed to write what they wanted to. He mentioned the recent incident when he was not allowed to visit protesting farmers in Madhya Pradesh. Recalling it, Rahul said, “This is the India we are living in…an India where power will simply manufacture the truth.”
