This is the reason why Saumya Tandon didn’t appear in films after Jab We Met !

Being the leading lady of famous comedy show, Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain and having hosted many popular TV shows, Saumya Tandon needs no introduction.

However, one can’t also forget her appearance in Imitiaz Ali’s Jab We Met where she played the role of Kareena Kapoor’s cousin, Roop. People loved this gorgeous beauty and some even found her prettier than Kareena in the film.

While fans would have loved to see her more often on big screen, Saumya revealed the real reason for not doing films in a recent interview to a popular media.

“I didn’t want to continue playing small roles. At that time, there were only these big production houses who used to only work with established stars. And in those big films, I didn’t want to do small roles. I wanted to do something meatier and bigger,” Saumya said.

Saumya further pointed out that it is only today’s time that small budget and concept films are being made which offer a lot of scope to new talented faces. “Today, you have these small budget films with interesting stories, where new actors are also given an equal chance. So now, it’s a better time to be in films as opposed to when I started off in the industry,” the actress added.

“Commercial and big films have become a bit monotonous. These new directors have new stories to offer and I personally quite enjoy watching small films, so I would love to act in one such,” Saumya said while talking about whether she wants to work in films.

She also revealed that she didn’t pursue in films a decade ago because she was really tight with TV shows – 13 to 14 shows back to back. She didn’t even get any film offer in those years. “But I was having a good time on TV and making money too,” she said.

Well, we movie buffs are eagerly waiting to see you on big screen playing an interesting role, Saumya !
