ICJ to resume hearing in Kulbhushan Jadhav case tomorrow

The International Court of Justice will resume hearing in the Kulbhushan Jadhav case tomorrow .

A former Indian naval officer, Kulbhushan Jadhav was sentenced to death by a court in Pakistan earlier this year on charges of being an Indian spy.

The UN top court which is based in The Hague had earlier asked India to make its submissions  by September 13, and Pakistan by December 13.

India moved the ICJ against the death sentence on May 8, describing the charges against Jadhav as “concocted” and his trial as “farcical”.

In its arguments before the court on May 15, India had expressed its fear that Pakistan could execute Mr Jadhav even before the court gave its verdict.

On May 18, the UN top court asked Pakistan to not execute Kulbhushan Jadhav before they decide the case.

India, meanwhile, accuses Pakistan of denying consular access to Mr Jadhav.
