It’s time for a warm up; Nakheel setting up for Dubai fitness challenge

Master developer Nakheel is joining the challenge to make Dubai the most active city in the world with a host of community events and incentives in support of the Dubai Fitness Challenge, which kicks off on Friday (20 October).

The company is backing His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s initiative by urging the 270,000 residents at its communities – and its 1,300 employees – to take 30 minutes of daily exercise throughout the 30-day event, which aims to encourage a long-term lifestyle change and make physical activity and sports a part of everybody’s daily routine.

Outdoor pop-up fitness centres are being installed at Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Islands, The Gardens, Jumeirah Village Triangle and Ibn Battuta Mall, with additional activities at Golden Mile Galleria on The Palm, including a specially-created workout session with the world’s most influential fitness celebrity, Kayla Itsines.

Nakheel is also offering 30 percent discount for day guests using the gyms and pools at Jebel Ali Club, Jumeirah Islands Club, Masakin Al Furjan Club and Azure Beach Club on weekdays throughout the Dubai Fitness Challenge.

Nakheel Chairman Ali Rashid Lootah said: “The Dubai Fitness Challenge is a wonderful initiative that will inspire the entire city to get fit, and we are proud to support it as part of our ongoing commitment to encouraging sport and fitness among our community residents and staff.

“Health, wellbeing, and fitness are integral to Nakheel’s strategy and psyche. Our communities have parks, jogging tracks, and sports courts and will soon have a huge network of cycle tracks.  We host and sponsor international sporting events such as the Dubai Tour, are sponsoring the Shabab Al Ahli Dubai Club this season and support dozens of local land and water sports events and initiatives every year.

“The Fitness Challenge is an excellent opportunity for us to further highlight how we promote sport and fitness as a responsible corporate citizen, developer, and employer. And as someone who personally follows a strict daily exercise routine, I look forward to encouraging my teams to ‘think fit’ during the challenge – and beyond.”
