Is China polluting Brahmaputra River??? Truth reveals here…..

Assam: Days after China was accused of polluting the Siang River, it has come to the fore that the country may be polluting the Brahmaputra River as well.

Several buffalo deaths have been reported in Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh, and it is suspected that the animals died after consuming waters of the river Siang, that has become muddy with sludge.

Carcasses of several buffaloes could be seen floating in the river this morning.

While China has gone in a denial mode and blamed India for the incident, sources said that River Brahmaputra in Assam is also being contaminated from the water coming from Tsangpo in Tibet, Siang in Arunachal and Brahmaputra in Assam.

It has been learnt that the black and slug-mingled waters have reached Assam and poses a severe threat to the flora and fauna surrounding the river.

A few days ago, the Siang river, that is considered the lifeline of Arunachal Pradesh for hundreds of years, has turned black which has triggered panic in the state.

The samples of river water have been collected by the water commission and they are eyeing China as the prime suspect, Tatak said.

“It seems that some major cement work is on in the upper reaches of the river in China … maybe China is carrying out some deep water boring work. What else could be the reason for such a big river, which becomes the Brahmaputra, remaining black in colour for nearly two months,” Tatak said.

Siang is the constituent river of the Brahmaputra which flows from a 1,600 kilometre stretch in southern Tibet, known as Yarlung Tsangpo or Yarlung Zangbo before it enters Indian territory.
