Global search engine has made some changes for users in India

Google is a well-known search engine. It has its own specialties such as Google Doodle, do a barrel roll (try it), etc. But this new feature is special to users in India.

Google has made it easier for Indian users to get authentic search results, increasing their productivity. The search giant has made some changes on its end so that users get ‘timely updates’ from original sources. Users will also see images, gifs and other content directly from the person or the organization.

“So now, when you search for the Indian Super League or Tiger Zinda Hai, you’ll see verified updates directly from them, right in the collection of cards you see in a search result (the Knowledge Panel.) In addition to the description, news articles, tweets and links you’re used to seeing in Google Search, you’ll now also see images, videos, GIFs, events, polls posted directly by the person or organization you’re searching for,” said Lauren Clark, product manager, Google Search.

Google adds that those users or organizations with a sizeable presence on Google Search in the field of entertainment, sports, and culture can get verified and start posting on Google.

It is good to see Google putting efforts in delivering authentic results from verified users, especially when recently it was reported to send users to fake websites.

According to several media reports from last month, a fake advertisement on Google led users to a scam website. This advertisement was reportedly seen by users when searching for ‘Amazon’. The incident was reported just before the Black Friday offers.

“Some Google users searching for “Amazon” on Thanksgiving were shown a phony ad that redirected to a scam website, one day before the biggest shopping day of the year,” reported CBS News.

Google spokesperson replied to this saying that the advertisement was an “abuse of our platform.” It was added that “we strictly prohibit advertising of illegal activity and have removed these ads and suspended the account,” the spokesperson said. “When we find ads that violate our policies, we take immediate action to disable the offending sources.”
