Constable attacked for raising objection to a liquor drinking group

It is a strange story to hear that A constable was injured after he was shot at for raising an objection to a group of men while they were drinking liquor on the roadside.
The victim identified as Constable Ravi Baliyan suffered bullet injury on his left shoulder and was taken to hospital later. Baliyan was part of night patrolling squad to avert any kind of robbery.

At the time of the incident, three constables including Baliyan, Abhishek Kakran, Vaibhav Pawar, were patrolling NH-2 stretch from Rambagh to Etmadpur separately. Baliyan came across two men who were drinking liquor on the roadside on a motor-bike near Kuberpur.

 

According to a police source, “When Baliyan objected over drinking on the roadside, the two youths identified as Ravi Kumar and Pankaj Kumar got engaged in heated argument followed by the scuffle. The accused youths also called their associates to assault the cop. But as soon constable Abhishek and Vaibhav reached the spot to rescue their colleague, the accused youths snatched Baliyan’s service pistol and fired shot at him.”

 

Station house officer of Etmadpur, Arvind Kumar said, “We have arrested Ravi Kumar, Pankaj Kumar and their other associate Nand Kishore from the spot, while other unidentified men managed to flee away. We have booked all the accused under IPC sections 147, 148, 149, 307, 323, 332, 353, 394, 411 and 504.”
The victim constable is out of danger.
