BSP-SP plans to defeat BJP in Phulpur by-election faces a huge blow!

Phulpur by-election would have gone like any other by-election has not BSP-SP decided to contest the election together. The importance of this election is thus the coming together of arch rival Bahujan Samaj Party and Samajwadi Party. But now a new twist has been added to the election with the coming of Former MP Atiq Ahmed, who is currently in jail, has filed his nominations as an independent candidate for this seat. Ahmed’s entry is adding an interesting twist to the elections.

Atiq Ahmed has considerable clout among the Muslim votes in the area and has thus made BSP-SP alliance in tatters. Therefore SP sees the entry of Atiq Ahamed as a ploy by Bharatiya Janata Party to cut SP-BSP’s vote share. He also exuded confidence that all the minorities will vote for SP.

Atiq Ahmed is a former MP and five-time MLA from Allahabad West. He has several cases against him. He was a former SP leader who later became the leader of Apna Dal, a political party founded by Sone Lal Patel in Uttar Pradesh.
