Students thrashed by goons for paticipating in ‘Save Trees’ protest

In a shocking event, students belonging to the Visva-Bharati University were allegedly beaten up by Trinamool Congress workers for participating in a ‘Save Trees’ protest. The students were reportedly demonstrating against cutting down of trees in Birbhum district of West Bengal while the attack happened.

According to reports, the incident took place when the students that included girls were protesting at Shyambati near Shantiniketan area in West Bengal. The students also alleged that though police offers were present at the spot, they did not take any actions against the TMC goons. The reports also suggested that the students who suffered injuries in the attack were rushed to a nearby hospital and are currently undergoing treatment. The police also deployed large force at the spot so as to disperse the crowd from the area.

This issue has further raised questions incident against the current law and order situation in West Bengal where the TMC workers are apparently taking advantage of their party rule and thereby enjoying a free run, with alleged party members taking the law into their hands.
