Shirdi – The blessed land of Sai Baba

The place Shirdi is believed to be the birth place of Sai Baba. He was an Indian saint,believed to be an incarnation of Lord Shiva. He had devotees from all the communities and not just among Hindus. His popular line itself said “sabka Malik ek hai” which translates to ‘God is one’. There are plenty of stories about Sai baba’s miracles that goes around in this place. 

This place is all about this beloved saint. Sai baba mandir, Sai baba trust, Sai baba devotees- the place is beaming with devotion for the spiritual leader. Thousands of people flock this place daily to get the blessed view of his idol. But if you are coming on thursdays, the crowd might just be that much more as it is the day that is considered as sacred by the Sai devotees.

There are long queues for darshan on most days and as you wait, shopkeepers will lure you in to their shop to buy their products. It takes an average of about 1 hour to reach the hall (where the statue is) on a day with medium rush. The morning darshan time will be over around 10 o clock usually. If you stay there after the darshan time, the guards and authorities will push you off from the premises. But if you can somehow make it in to the inside, we can Sai baba’s idol that exudes unmatched calmness. It is totally worth all the wait and trouble you have to go through to get there.

Shani temple at shinganapur

There is also a Shani temple at shinganapur which is about 70 kilometres from Sirdi. It is believed that the Shani devas idol was found by a shephered in this place. Later Shanideva appeared in his dream and told him that it is his swayambhu form and the temple was eventually built there.
