No Patanjali Sim launch by Baba Ramdev; all you need to know

There had been reports on Monday that Acharya Balakrishna’s company Patanjali was planning to enter the telecom Sector and that they had announced a special partnership with BSNL for special Swadeshi Sims under the Rs.144 plan. This report has been misquoted as the BSNL-Patanjali tie-up is only for the employees of the company and its linked organisations. There are no plans either by Baba Ramdev or Patanjali to enter telecom sector to launch their own sim cards.

The Patanjali press release said that the BSNL plan of Rs.144 would give its employees unlimited calls on local and STD, roaming on all sectors, 2GB of data/ day along with 100SMS free/day. They made it clear that the plan was limited to just the employees of the Patanjali company.BSNL had also made a clarification on this regard and in a series of tweets said that the plan was available for “members of Patanjali organisations like Bharat Swabhiman Nyas, Patanjali Yog Samiti, Mahila Prakostha, Yuva Bharat, Patanjali Kisan Seva and Patanjali Swadeshi Samriddhi cardholders.”

Patanjali made a tie-up with the state-owned BSNL to provide sims to its employees as part of its Swadeshi Initiative. The Press Release by Patanjali stated that all its employees would be given those sim cards.
