The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has directed P Chidambaram to appear before it on May 31 for questioning in INX Media case. The probe agency had earlier arrested his son, Karti Chidambaram for alleged irregularities in the INX Media case.

Karti Chidambaram was arrested by the CBI from the Chennai Airport in connection with Aircel-Maxis case. The arrest took place when the 46-year-old returned from London. He was later granted bail.

Karti is accused of taking money to facilitate Foreign Investment Promotion Board clearance to INX Media in 2007 when his father was the Finance Minister in the UPA government. The CBI registered an FIR in the case on May 15, 2017.

The CBI and the Enforcement Directorate are probing the case.
