Chennithala’s slyness won in Chengannoor; Hassan became a laughing stock:Oomen Chandy failed!

The question is now widely asked that who removed CPI(M) candidate from Harippad which paved the way for Chennithala’s win? The answer is, as said around in the media circle, none other than CPI(M)’s victor candidate in Chengannoor, Saji Cherian. Those who are aware in Chengannoor about the political give and takes, are damn sure that the Congress’s defeat in their strongholds is Chennithala’s thanks for the favour received.

If the UDF had won in Chengannoor, it would have given Oommen Chandy, the title of KingMaker. It was Oommen Chandy’s idea to bring K.M.Mani back to the UDF front and also to unify the Orthodox Christian votes. If the UDF had won, all would have praised Oommen Chandy’s ace move. Oommen Chandy camped in the constituency and was victorious in ameliorating Chenganoor diocese to vote for the UDF even at the time when the Orthodox Supreme head gave silent orders to support LDF. It was Chennithala who declared Oommen Chandy as the next CM of Kerala much before the Chengannoor election result declarations. Chennithala had been projecting the Chenganoor elections as the precursor to the upcoming assembly elections.

The failure of UDF even in the areas of Chennithala Panchayat in Chengannoor is an assessment of the election campaigning undertaken by the opposition. Oommen Chandy himself once said that Chenganoor election results would be an assessment of the opposition. We should look into all this also considering BJP candidate P.S.Sreedharan Pillai’s accusation that Congress votes had been bypassed to the CPI(M) account. This accusation even though made against the Congress party, it falls on the head of Ramesh Chennithala. The panchayat in which Ramesh Chennithala’s house is situated also witnessed a massive majority for Saji Cherian.

It was just hours before the declaration of results that the defeated UDF candidate D.Vijayakumar criticised the works of Congress booth committees. He has still not got out of the hangover of his unbelievable defeat. Naturally the from the 7000 votes that BJP lost, at least some should have fallen into Vijayakumar’s kitty. But nothing of that sort happened. Maybe Chennithala will have to answer about these anomalies in future.

The tragic fate falls on M.M.Hassan, who has become a laughing stock and will be forced to quit his KPCCC President’s position. The calculations of the Congress leadership under Hassan seems to be wrong totally with the UDF failing to grab the opportunity of strong anti Government sentiment among the people. Even in this severely unpopular governance, instead of grabbing the 7000 votes lost by the BJP for the victory of UDF, it happened that these votes fell to CPI(M)’s account and the conclusion is Oommen Chandy, the King Maker’s defeat.

Ramesh Chennithala till now, has not spoken a word about the election defeat in Chengannoor. We yet have to see if the Congress candidate D.Vijakumar vociferates against the injustice to his candidature. Anyway, Chennithala, whether or not be sad about his party’s defeat, he shall surely be happy as a friend on Saji Cherian’s victory.
