Jignesh Mevani to team up with BSP Mayawati for 2019 elections?

Is Dalit youth icon Jignesh Mevani planning to team up with BSP Mayawathi to create a pan-India movement?

In an exclusive interview, Jignesh Mevani has informed that he has decided to meet up with Bahujan Samaj Party supremo and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati to elicit her help in fulfilling his commitments to his electorate, and especially in building a nationwide Dalit movement in the country in the context of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Mevani said that he desires to work for the poor and the underprivileged, but has neither the resources nor the platform that Mayawati inherited from the late Kanshi Ram.

Despite being the newest face of the Dalit agitation and winning the last Assembly elections over 19,000 votes against BJP nominee Vijay Chakravarti, Mevani needs the resources that Mayawathi has access to. Neither does have a political structure.

With the exception of Mayawati all the other top Opposition leaders, from Rahul Gandhi to Mamata Banerjee, Akhilesh Yadav to Arvind Kejriwal and leaders from the CPI and CPI(M) have met up with Jignesh.

And to achieve his goal, Jignesh is willing to support Mayawati’s joint election campaign for the Parliament elections with the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh on the condition that she is ready to take up cudgels against the BJP.
