Security forces killed three militants in an operation

Security forces killed three terrorists in an encounter in south Kashmir’s Kulgam on Sunday morning. The militants were believed to be behind the abduction and killing of a policeman on Saturday.

“Three bodies of terrorists were recovered with three weapons from the encounter site so far. The group tortured our colleague Constable Mohd Saleem of Kulgam and killed him brutally,” said Director General of Police S.P. Vaid.

The three militants were encircled at Wani Mohalla of Khudwani area in Kulgam early in the morning. The hiding militants fired upon the search party of the Army, police and CRPF.

The slain militants are believed to have abducted Constable Saleem from his residence on Friday night in Kulgam. The body of the policeman was recovered on Saturday in Kulgam. The police said the body bore torture marks.

The policeman’s killing was third such incident in the past two months. Constable Javid Ahmad Dar was kidnapped and killed by suspected militants in the first week of July. Earlier, on June 14, militants abducted an army man, Aurangzeb, from Pulwama and killed him later.
