Missing Keralite found dead in UAE

Moideen M.V, An Indian expat, went missing two months ago from UAE, was found dead in Abu Dhabi.He had worked in Abu Dhabi for more than five years. The body was recovered from the sea on June 19.

According to his relatives, Moideen had lost his job in March. “He was working at a workshop in Mussafah, but it got shut down in March. His job visa expired and he survived doing odd jobs,” a relative said.

His relatives and friends didn’t hear from Moideen for some time, but they didn’t suspect anything unusual.
“I last called him during Ramadan. It wasn’t unusual for Moideen not to call us or family back home. On Sunday, I got a call from a relative, asking me to identify a body. He had come to know about the body through a social worker. I went to the mortuary and identified him,” the relative added.

Relatives haven’t been able to locate his passport yet. “We don’t know where Moideen stayed for the past few months.”

Social worker M.M. Nasar Kanhangad said he had been following the case for a few weeks. “I had spread the word through social media and other sources about the body. A relative contacted me and that’s how the body was identified. The next step is to repatriate the body to his family in Kerala.”
