Even Priyanka Gandhi ‘not assured of safety’ at Congress-led rallies , says BJP MP

Taking a dig on Jantar Mantar protest organised by RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav against the Muzaffarpur mass rapes in the Bihar state-run shelter home, which also saw Congress president Rahul Gandhi and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in attendance, BJP MP and party spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi said even Gandhi’s sister Priyanka “can’t be assured of safety” in Congress rallies.

“We know what happens in Rahul Gandhi’s protests, even Priyanka Gandhi can’t be assured of safety,” Lekhi was quoted as saying by news agency ANI. “And now Tejashwi Yadav is too a part of it. No woman will be safe.”
Lekhi was referring to a Congress protest rally in April in which Priyanka was pushed around and heckled.
The protest against the mass rapes in the Bihar shelter home for girls which has been named as the “house of horrors” has turned into something of a rallying point for the Opposition, with Yadav, the heir-apparent of the RJD, urging everyone to attend the protest.

“Against heinous institutional mass rape in Muzaffarpur sponsored and protected by Nitish government, we will stage a dharna on Saturday, August 4 at Jantar Mantar. Request all to attend,” Tejashwi tweeted on Saturday.
In April during a rally to express anger over the Unnao and Kathua rape incidents, Priyanka was heckled and pushed around in the chaos, prompting her to reprimand the crowd. “Those who have come here to push people around must go home,” she was seen telling sections of the crowd.

Priyanka Gandhi, who always has a high-security protection team around her, had come to the rally with her two children and husband Robert Vadra. But even her security guards were seen struggling to control the crowd.
