Pakistan’s Federal Cabinet Finalized By To Be Prime Minister Imran Khan

As much as the people are waiting for the former-cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan to swear in as the Prime Minister, the people are also eager to know of his Federal Cabinet.

While names of Asad Umar, Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Dr Shireen Mazari seems have been finalised for finance, foreign affairs and defence ministries, candidates for interior, education, information, human rights, parliamentary affairs, inter-provincial relations, Kashmir affairs, health, communication, water & power, petroleum & natural resources, interfaith harmony, religious affairs, climate change, trade & commerce, privatisation and railways are yet to be finalised.

The ultimate decision to select the members of the federal cabinet lies with the chairman of the party, a party official told a news agency. “Whoever is picked by Imran Khan for the federal cabinet will carry forward his vision and fulfill his agenda for change, the official said.

Everyone is looking at Imran Khan’s choice as he has promised to select ‘a right man for the right job’ in his cabinet, the party official said.

According to PTI sources, the party has done some homework and a number of names are under consideration for appointment as the federal ministers.

According to sources, former chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Pervaiz Khattak is likely to be appointed as the interior minister.

The name General (retired) Ashfaq Nadeem has been in news to be picked as National Security Adviser. General Nadeem has also served as Director General Military Operations and the Chief of General Staff.

Names Dr. Babar Awan, Naeem Bukhari and Hamid Khan are being considered for the post and law and justice minister and one of them can be appointed as the attorney general.

Senator Faisal Javed, a close confidant of Imran Khan, may get the portfolio of information & broadcasting, said the sources. For the post of education minister, Imran Khan may choose former Governor of Punjab Chaudhary Mohammad Sarwar.

Human rights ministry, according to party’s insiders can go to Shafqat Mehmood who has been quite instrumental in projecting party’s enlightened, progressive image during last two decades, said the sources.

Name of young parliamentarian Zartaj Gul Wazir being considered as the minister of climate change. Dr. Aamir Liaquat may get the portfolio of religious affairs ministry and Dr. Arif Alvi of inter-provincial harmony & parliamentary affairs, sources said.
