Previously it was mentioned that the swearing of the Pakistan Prime Minister is to take place on the 13th of August.

But has the date been postponed?

Putting to rest all uncertainties surrounding the exact date when the election for the new prime minister and the oath taking will be held, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday announced that Imran Khan will take the oath as prime minister on August 18.

“The PTI wanted to invite to the oath-taking ceremony thousands of Pakistanis who supported and voted the party in the general elections. But as the president will be hosting the ceremony so only a few hundred guests will be invited to grace the occasion,” PTI Spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry said while talking to the media at Bani Gala.

Chaudhry said the inaugural session of the National Assembly has been summoned on August 13 and added that the process of oath taking of MNAs-elect, election of the speaker and deputy speaker of the lower house and the election of Leader of the House will be completed in a couple of days, and finally on August 18, Imran would take oath of his office.

Earlier, Senator Faisal Javed had also tweeted that Khan would become Pakistan’s new premier on August 18.

“Imran Khan to take oath as Prime Minister of Islamic Republic of Pakistan on the 18th Aug 2018 inshALLAH (if God wills)”, Javed tweeted.

However, no official notification confirming the swearing-in ceremony on August 18 has been issued as yet.
