Eleven Cases Compromised after Delhi Police nabbed Two snatchers

The central district of the Delhi police has arrested two snatchers and claimed to have solved 11 cases of snatching and theft from Turkman Gate area on Monday evening. Police have recovered 15 stolen Mobiles from their possession.

According to the police, the two arrested accused have been identified as Mohd. Anas (28) and Mohd. Ubed (27) both residents of Turkman Gate. Police on Monday had received an information that two notorious snatchers would come at Turkman Gate to sell snatched/stolen mobile phones.

“Following the information, a trap was laid at Turkman Gate and in the evening, two persons were seen coming from Delite Cinema side and at the instance of the informer, both of them were apprehended by the police team. On their personal search, 15 mobile phones were recovered and on verification, 11 mobile phones were linked with the cases registered at different police stations in the national Capital. Subsequently, both of them were arrested,” said Mandeep Randhawa, Deputy commissioner of police (Central district).

During sustained interrogation, the two accused disclosed that they along with their accomplices used to commit snatching/theft of mobile phones from the passersby on the two-wheeler.

“Sometimes, they also stole mobile phones on foot. They have snatched/stole hundreds of mobile phones and have previously been arrested in several cases registered at different police stations in Delhi. They also disclosed that they bought stolen mobile phones on cheaper rates and further sold the same to the passersby or in Sunday Market with handsome gain,” said Randhawa.

The police have arrested the two under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and have found that the two were previously arrested under the Arms Act, too.
