Even in Flood Hit Times, CPI(M) Minister A K Balan Cannot Afford to Lose this Luxury

Kerala is going through a crisis period like never before and it needs all the help it can have from all corners. This is the time where it’s politicians need to stand up and show exemplary behaviour, but CPI(M) Minister A.K Balan cut a sorry picture today by being an example that Kerala would hate anytime, but more so now.

A.K Balan has apparently transferred a police officer as a punishment since the officer couldn’t go with him in a pilot vehicle. The unfortunate policeman who is a Special branch Sub Inspector in Piravam who was apparently busy with the flood relief programmes and couldn’t be with the minister. Ministers destination, Vadakkekara was just 80 kilometres away but he couldn’t do without a police escort!

Yesterday while traveling from Palakkad to Thiruvananthapuram, the minister had requested for a pilot escort from Karukutti to Muttom. His call to control room was met with the message that policemen are not available and that they have all gone for flood relief programmes. Soon the minister made another call to Rural District Police Department asking for a transfer for the concerned policeman.

Meanwhile, protest against Balan is fuming in social media. people are particularly unhappy that such a flaw occurred from the hands of a prominent member of ruling party in Kerala.
