Mumbai: Sovereign gold price appreciated sharply in Kerala. Sovereign gold is priced at Rs 45,240, up by Rs 160 per 8 gram. One gram gold is trading at Rs 5655, higher by Rs 20.

In global markets, price of spot gold was up 0.2% at $1,976.99 per ounce. U.S. gold futures was steady at $1,988.10. Price of spot silver was up 0.7% to $23.15 an ounce, platinum fell 0.1% to $895.66 and palladium firmed 1.1% to $1,129.79.
