Elderly man fatally stabbed by son-in-law in Kerala’s Idukki

In a tragic incident that unfolded in Kavunthy near Kattappana, Idukki, a 70-year-old man named Thomas, also known as Tomy, was fatally stabbed with a machete by his son-in-law, Jobin Thomas, on a Wednesday night. The gruesome attack also left Tomy’s daughter, Tintu, with stab injuries, and she is currently in critical condition while receiving intensive care at Kottayam Medical College Hospital. According to information from law enforcement sources, Tintu and Jobin had been leading separate lives for a period due to ongoing family disputes. Tintu had been residing with her parents in Kavunthy, while Jobin had been employed at a private company in Bangalore.

The tragic incident occurred around midnight when Jobin arrived at Tintu’s residence and knocked on the door. When Tintu and her father, Thomas, opened the door and stepped outside, Jobin, armed with a machete, launched a vicious attack on both of them. The brutal assault resulted in Thomas losing his life at the scene, while Tintu was promptly rushed to the local taluk hospital by concerned bystanders. Subsequently, she was transferred to Kottayam Medical College Hospital for specialized medical care. Reports suggest that Jobin had previously engaged in similar attacks against Tintu’s family. Law enforcement swiftly took him into custody on the day of the incident, and after gathering necessary evidence, he will be presented in court.

This tragic event highlights the profound impact of domestic disputes on families and the need for effective measures to address such issues in order to prevent further violence and loss of life. It serves as a somber reminder of the importance of fostering peaceful resolutions to conflicts within families to avoid such heartbreaking and violent outcomes.
