KSRTC achieves record single-day collection in April in Kerala

The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has achieved a significant milestone in revenue generation, setting a new record on April 15. With earnings totaling Rs 8.57 crore in a single day, the organization has surpassed its previous record of Rs 8.30 crore reported on April 24, 2023. This accomplishment underscores KSRTC’s commitment to enhancing revenue while streamlining operational costs.

KSRTC attributes its record-breaking performance to strategic service reorganization initiatives implemented under the guidance of Transport Minister KB Ganesh Kumar. By eliminating low-revenue dead trips and unmanned mid-day routes, except for specific services catering to isolated regions, tribal sectors, plantation areas, and student concession routes, KSRTC optimized its service offerings. This optimization enabled the corporation to boost revenue without increasing operational expenses, highlighting a sustainable approach to financial management.

The success of KSRTC’s revenue enhancement strategies is further evidenced by the careful planning and execution of additional services, particularly on major and long-haul routes where demand and revenue potential were identified. With about 140 additional services introduced within the state and specialized arrangements made for inter-state routes, such as those to Sabarimala for Vishu, KSRTC demonstrates its agility in responding to passenger demand and maximizing revenue opportunities. The corporation acknowledges the dedication and commitment of its operational staff, conductors, and drivers, as well as the leadership of its officers and supervisors, in ensuring the seamless implementation of these initiatives.
