Five individuals, including a child, lost their lives in a tragic collision involving a car and a lorry in Punnachery, Kannapuram, Kannur, on Monday night. The victims were identified as K N Padmakumar, Choorikkatt Sudhakaran, his wife Ajitha, her father Kozhummal Krishnan, and Ajitha’s nephew Akash.
The accident occurred around 10:15 pm while Padmakumar was driving the car. Sadly, four individuals died at the scene, while the child succumbed to injuries later at Pariyaram Medical College Hospital. The driver of the lorry, which was transporting gas cylinders, also sustained injuries.
The car, en route to Kasaragod, collided with the lorry transporting gas cylinders. Emergency responders, including the Fire Force and Police, worked diligently to extricate the trapped individuals from the vehicle. Upon arrival, authorities found the front portion of the car lodged beneath the lorry. Sudhakaran and his family were returning to Kasaragod after admitting their son in a Kozhikode educational institution.
