Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Asim Azmi takes over Zakir Naik’s Islamic International School

Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Asim Azmi has taken over the management of Islamic International School (IIS), run by controversial Islamic Preacher Zakir Naik.

The school had landed into deep trouble after Naik and his banned NGO Islamic Research Foundation (IRF) came under scrutiny over terror related cases.

Islamic International School conducts classes from nursery to class X. The controversy surrounding Zakir Naik had put a big question mark on the fates of around 200 students of the school.

Now, the management of the school will be run by Abu Asim Azmi’s Niyaz Minority and Welfare trust and the school will be renamed as ‘Avicenna International School’.

Azmi has confirmed the change in management but refused to comment on the syllabus and orientation of the school.

Earlier, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had investigated the syllabus of IIS to check if the students were being radicalised. Nothing scandalous was found in the school’s syllabus, however.
