Rape of 5 year old girl : Police arrested the rapist

In a swift move, the Bengaluru police have arrested 24-year-old ragpicker who allegedly raped and left the five-year-old little girl to battle for her life, here on Saturday.

The accused identified as Veeresh is said to be a native of Chitradurga. However, Veeresh was living at Veereshpalya. A special team headed by senior police officer Ajay Hilori had launched a manhunt after a five-year old girl was found near a drain with severe head injuries at the KG halli police station limits.

They took the help of CCTVs installed at the area to pin down the accused. According to them, Veeresh had seen the girl who had come out to attend the nature’s call and kidnapped her and raped her before throwing near a drain.

The victim, police say, is a daughter of construction labourers. The girl had stepped out to attend the nature’s call in the wee hours of the morning when she was allegedly kidnapped and raped. She was found near a drain by the Hoysala police on rounds.

The victim was profusely bleeding as she had sustained severe injuries. One of her fingers is also severed, the police said. The victim is being treated at the intensive care of the hospital. Dr Manjunath of the hospital told mediapersons that the victim has gained consciousness and is under observation.

“The girl is in severe shock. She is slightly disoriented. However, she is being treated at the paediatric intensive care,” Dr Manjuanth said.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Bengaluru East) Hemanth Nimbalkar told mediapersons that the KG Halli police have lodged a complaint under The Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO) case.

Bengaluru Development minister KJ George visited the hospital and enquired about the girl’s condition. He told mediapersons that the accused will not be spared at any cost.
