The Haryana government ordered imposition of Section 144 (prohibiting assembly of four or more persons) of the CrPC across the state till August 25.
This is to avert any incident of violence on account of the unlawful gathering of Dera Sacha Sauda followers ahead of the pronouncement of the court order related to the alleged involvement of its head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in a rape case.
Confirming this, additional chief secretary (home) Ram Niwas said Section 144 had been imposed in all districts of Haryana and carrying of sticks or weapons had been prohibited at places of the congregation of followers.
Security forces have been pressed into service in border areas and the Centre has already been requested to provide 115 companies of paramilitary forces to maintain law and order situation in the state.
