Bypolls: AAP wins Delhi, BJP gets Goa’s 2 seats

Goa Chief Minister and BJP leader Manohar Parrikar won a sixth term as MLA after winning Panaji bypoll, defeating Congress’ Girish Chodankar by a margin of 4803 votes. The party tasted success in Valpoi too with Vishwajit Rane, Health minister, defeating Congress’ Roy Naik by a huge margin of 10,066 votes.

In Bawana, after an initial close contest between Congress and AAP, the latter took the lead and went on to register a strong victory by over 24000 votes. BJP, who was trailing behind both the parties in the beginning rounds, picked up votes in the final few rounds and ended at second place with a lead of 3915 votes over Congress.

TDP candidate B Brahmananda Reddy won Nandyal Assembly seat in Andhra Pradesh, defeating YSR Congress rival S Mohan Reddy by over 27000 votes. Earlier, both the regional parties received zero postal votes. Out of 250 postal ballot votes, 39 were declared invalid and 211 NOTA. It meant both TDP and YSRCP did not poll a single vote in the postal ballots.
