An SUV rammed into the mob offering prayers(Namaz) and claimed the life of two. Two people were killed on the spot and five seriously injured. The four-wheel drive lost control veered off the Shaikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Road and plowed into a group of people offering Maghreb prayers, a prayer in the dusk. The accused driver is being held for interrogation.
The Dubai Police said the accident occurred when the Asian driver lost control of the vehicle after a tire burst, veered off the road towards Sharjah and crashed into the group of people offering prayers near the road. The injured were rushed by the police air wing to the Rashid Hospital for treatment.
The accident, the second fatal one this weekend, took place just before the flyover bordering Dubai and Sharjah.
