Sharjah Police launches campaign to block thefts from motor vehicles

The Sharjah Police today launched an awareness campaign named ‘Security and Safety’ to prevent theft of valuables from vehicles.

The police stations department, the community police department and the traffic and patrol department will team up to carry out the drive.

Colonel Arif bin Hodeib, director of the media and public relations department of Sharjah Police, said that the campaign will go on for four weeks, during which pamphlets and awareness materials in Arabic, English and Urdu will be distributed to car owners and drivers.

“The awareness materials will spell out guidelines for the public, including not leaving the vehicle while the engine is on, avoiding stopping it in remote places or sandy areas for long periods and desist from exposing valuables kept inside the cars”,he added.

Using a cautionary tone, he called on members of the society to be alert and report any suspicious movement to the general directorate of the Sharjah Police on 901 for non-emergencies or via toll free number 800151 or through www.shjpolice.gov.ae/najeed
