Soul touching words of Defence Minister Nirmala Seetharaman makes agitating Kerala Coastal People calm and relieved

Defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday met the Kerala fishermen families affected by cyclone Ockhi at Vizhinjam near Thiruvananthapuram.

“I speak with folded hands…Please listen to me peacefully…The warning was given on November 29…We started search operations from November 30…The Navy, Coast Guard and Air Force began their work. Many people were saved,” she said. These words were helps the coastal people becoming safer for those who pray to return their related ones.

The minister had reached Thiruvananthapuram from Kanyakumari at around 8:30 in the morning. She headed towards Vizhinjam soon after reaching the capital. 

State Ministers J Mercykutty Amma and Kadakampally Surendran are accompanied the minister.

After hearing all the complaints and feelings from coastal people,Minister started speaking in Tamil laungage,and her touching words melt all the issues.

“I am also a woman and I can understand your pain and feelings”,she added.

“They (fishing community) are in deep distress.. I can see it,” she said.

Ms. Sitharaman said fishermen who had gone much before the cyclone warning, probably 15 days ago, had been spotted in the sea and were given food and water.

“So I will not lose hope even for a minute.. If boats that had gone 15 days ago had come back with fishermen alive, we will make every attempt to bring everybody back,” she said.

“Many people have come back to their families…We have not stopped searching for them even now,” she said, adding war ships are also engaged in search operations.

The minister assured them that the search and rescue operations are being conducted with full force. “The search and rescue operations by the Indian Navy, Coast Guard and Air Force will continue with full spirit,” Sitharaman said.

After Vizhinjam she went to Poonthura for hearing complaints and suggestions from peoples, “The search and rescue operations will continue, till now 402 fishermen rescued,” Sitharaman said there.

At that time one person raised a question in the crowd, Then she replied “ Brother please give your Whatsapp number,i will send all the details of rescue operations”.
