Schwab expressed delight at being able to host PM Modi in the meeting that will take place on 23-26 January in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland.

Schwab praised the positive role played by India in Paris climate agreement. He said that India demonstrated its quest to become a major global player through continual efforts to get a permanent seat at the UN Security Council.

The WEF founder also advised Indian administration to work towards improving pollution levels and infrastructure of the country if it were to amplify its global influence.

“For India to reap the benefits of its reforms process, it is imperative that it addresses these critical challenges at home,” he wrote.
