Mammootty’s ‘Street Lights’, not an action thriller: director

Mammootty is all set to thrill his fans with his upcoming flick Street Lights. Shamdat Sainuddin, the director of the movie, said that his only aim is to thrill the audience and that he would like to call this movie, an entertainment thriller.

“Ever since the first look poster of the movie came out there have been many speculations about the genre of the movie. Many have already assumed it to be a dark thriller, suspense thriller, action thriller, crime thriller and the like. But I must clarify that my movie doesn’t belong to any of the above-said categories. There are action sequences in the movie, but then you cannot call it entirely an action thriller. Similarly, there are elements of suspense and crime but I do not wish to brand the movie as any category. I like to call Street Lights an entertainment thriller.” Shamdath told

The director clarified that by entertainment he meant that all kinds of audience, especially the family audience would enjoy the movie very much. He added that though the movie is a thriller, hardly any profanity or immensely violent scenes have been included in it and that he had tried to make the movie as thrilling as possible.

“Street Lights has an equal dose of genuine humor demanded by the screenplay, emotional scenes, action, romance, and songs. There are 4 songs which are totally in sync with the narrative of the movie. I am posting this message about the genre of the movie as I am particular that the audience shouldn’t approach the movie with preconceived and untrue notions. I expect that you would convey my message about Street Lights to those who wish to know more about the movie.”

The Mammootty-starrer will hit the theaters on 26th January. Besides Malayalam, Street Lights would be released in Tamil and Telugu as well. Soubin Shahir, Harish Knaran, Dharmajan, Lijomol among others have acted in the movie.
