Chiyaan Vikram’s latest flick gets mixed responses

With one more feather on his cap, Vikram releases his latest film Sketch. But is it as great as the trailers and posters portrayed it to be?

The film is set during the local backgrounds in Chennai. Vikram, or Sketch as his character called, is a collection agent for a financier in north Chennai.

The first half is the conservative preparation of light-hearted romance, punch dialogues and fights. Vikram is portrayed in the film as absolutely comfortable emission ‘local’ yet charming man who fills the screen and keeps audiences entertained. It reminds the viewers of Vikram’s earliest movies’ Gemini.

Action sequences before the interval are good enough to hold attention, even though the plot takes a lot of time to set. Sequences involving Tamannaah, as it appears, has been injected into the plot just for filmic relief.

Director Vijay Chandra chose to give the film a bit of an anonymous angle that did not work out as expected. When the mystery of the film is unfolded it becomes bizarre.

As the credits roll, all one can as is why did an actor of such caliber choose to do a film such as Sketch.
