School terminates teacher for wearing ‘Indecent’ dress

A teacher who formerly worked in a Private school in Tirupati is now fighting a legal battle to reclaim her job and self-respect because she was terminated on the ground of wearing ‘western’ dress.

Beulah Rani Ravada used to work in Sree Vidyanikethan International School. She was appointed to the job on September 4, 2017. The school is funded and chaired by famous Telugu actor and producer M Mohan Babu. But she was barely three months into her job when she got a termination letter. The letter said formal pants and the full-sleeved shirt was not “in line with the standards of the school”, and it “violated clauses 11 and 13 of the appointment letter”. She was terminated on December 7, 2017.

Ravada said she was greatly hurt by this treatment of the school. The school also claimed that she was unable to complete her syllabus which leads to her termination. She also says that the chairman called her into his room and told her that she is a Telugu by birth and couldn’t wear such clothes. But she says there is another teacher in the school of another nationality who wears in the same way.
