Shocking! Mother and daughter raped, killed and burnt

The charred bodies of a mother-daughter duo were recovered from their house in Darshan Nagar locality of Amritsar on Tuesday. Police have registered a murder case against unidentified persons after preliminary investigations and are awaiting the post-mortem reports to confirm if there was any rape attempt on the daughter.

In this incident, mother and daughter Gagandeep Verma (41) and Shivnaini Verma(21) respectively, were murdered in their own house. After they were murdered, the house was burnt down in order to eradicate evidence.

Gagandeep’s entire body was completely burned while Shivnaini’s body was 25% burnt. Her hands and legs were tied and there were no clothes on her body. The condition of the body indicates that it is a case of rape and murder.

Gangandeep was a teacher at a girl’s school, while her daughter just completed her B.Com degree. Their house was seen to be on fire by a neighbour at around 2 in the night, and an alrm was raised. 

Gagndeep was a woman who had had two broken marriages and was living in the house with her children. Her 20-year-old son had left for Canada only in December. 

According to the primary evidence, there seems to be the involvement of 3 to 4 men. If the victims were both raped will be confirmed only after the autopsy.

The police think that the murderers are people the two women knew. There is no sign of a forced entry and nobody heard the pet dog bark either.

The police figured out there were bodies inside the house when they saw blood flowing from the cushions they were trying to put out off fire.
