Minister wants Pakistani singers to be banned from bollywood

The rivalry between Salman Khan and Arijit Singh has developed into a much more serious issue. Apparently, the Bollywood star had asked the music director of his new film to replace Arijit with Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan which has irked singer and Union Minister Babul Supriyo.

The Minister has now expressed his concern about the issue that Pakistani artistes are given more preference than Indian talents. He urged Indian music directors to ban Pakistani artists from Bollywood. Referring to the songs sung by Pakistani singers like Atif Aslam and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, the minister questioned the composers’ choice of Pakistani singers instead of promoting Indian talents.

However, Shamir Tandon who is the music director of Salman’s new film, Welcome To New York, reacted against the minister’s remark. He questioned why his song is being particularly targetted while many other songs sung by the Pakistani singers did not find any similar reaction. Director Chakri Toleti said that his team has not decided anything about the minister’s demand. The film has Salman Khan playing a cameo.
