This former Indian player is the new captain of Kings Eleven Punjab

Kings XI Punjab has finally found the captain of the team in Indian Spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. He will be leading the team for the upcoming IPL season. The details regarding it were announced through a Facebook live by team director and mentor Virender Sehwag with the spinner sitting next to him.

The experienced spinner used to play for Chennai Super before the franchise was suspended owing to fixing allegations. In the last two seasons, he played for Rising Pune Super Giants before becoming a part of Kings XI eleven Punjab in this season after being bought for a whopping Rs.7.6. Though Rajasthan Royals tried to buy him, King XI Punjab overpowered them.

Sehwag while announcing Aswin said that he is the right choice for the position though many thought Yuvraj will be picked for the post.“I always thought that a bowler should always be the captain. I was a huge fan of Wasim Akram, Kapil Dev, Waqar Younis… they were all great bowlers and went on to lead their teams successfully. I hope Ashwin will do the same and help us reach the qualifying stages and the final,” the former India opener said.

Ashwin was ecstatic to be given such position. “I feel honoured to be trusted with the responsibility of leading such a talented bunch of cricketers,” said Ashwin, “I am confident of bringing out the best out of teammates. This is indeed a proud moment for me. There is no additional pressure on me as such. I first led my stateside in first-class cricket when I was 21. I have done it in the past and I am sure that I will enjoy the challenge.”
