Significance Of Minbar And Minaret In Mosque

Mosque, Arabic masjid  any house or open area of prayer in Islam. The Arabic word masjid means “a place of prostration” to God, and the same word is used in Persian, Urdu, and Turkish. Two main types of mosques can be distinguished: the masjid j?mi?, or “collective mosque,” a large state-controlled mosque that is the centre of community worship and the site of Friday prayer services; and smaller mosques operated privately by various groups within society.

First mosque

The first mosque built in Islam is Quba mosque in Saudia Arabia. It is located in the southwestern part of Madina. The mosque is still standing and is considered the oldest mosque in the world. The Prophet, peace be upon him, helped to build and was the one who positioned the first stones.

Minaret


A common feature in mosques is the minaret, the tall, slender tower that usually is situated at one of the corners of the mosque structure. … Before the five required daily prayers, a muezzin calls the worshippers to prayer from the minaret.

A minbar (Arabic: ????? but pronounced mimbar, also romanized as mimber) is a pulpit in the mosque where the imam (prayer leader) stands to deliver sermons (????, khutbah) or in the Hussainia where the speaker sits and lectures the congregation.
