Teary-eyed Kohli said this about Dhoni after the match loss

Kohli would have fancied RCB’s chances against the two-time champions after AB de Villiers blasted 68 off 30 balls to help the hosts along to 205 off their 20 overs. At one point, thanks to a fine partnership between Quinton de Kock and de Villiers, RCB looked on course for a far bigger total – but Chennai pulled things back through Imran Tahir and Dwayne Bravo who picked two wickets apiece.

Still 206 was a tall ask – and when Shane Watson, Suresh Raina, Sam Billings and Ravindra Jadeja departed with the score on 74, it looked like a Herculean task.

MS Dhoni joined forces with Ambati Rayudu to stun the Royal Challengers. Neither man held back from hitting the big sixes and before RCB knew what hit them, the pair had added 101 runs.

Rayudu was brilliantly run out by Umesh Rayudu and at one stage, CSK needed 30 off 12 balls. But with Dhoni and Dwayne Bravo in the middle, Chennai were not going to muddle this up.

Kohli lauded Rayudu and Dhoni for their heroic knocks. He said it was good to see Dhoni in “really good touch” but cheekily added “He is hitting the ball really well this IPL but not great to see it against us.”

“Great to see him [Dhoni] strike a few, not great to see it against us though. Hope he won’t do it against us again. He’s hitting the ball really well this IPL. He is in a happy space, batting higher up and expressing himself. Seems to be enjoying it. Credit to him as well,” Kohli said after the match.
