Sun Risers Hyderabad is the team that has won most matches in the ongoing IPL purely on the merit of their bowling.
With wisdom in the dugout in the form of Tom Moody and VVS Laxman, SRH was very careful with their auction, strengthening their bowling department. However the batting hasn’t fired as a unit and except for the odd shows of Williamson and Dhawan, the unit hasn’t quite clicked together.

Now the batting maestro Sunil Gavaskar has openly criticised the batting unit of SRH saying that the team is handicapped by the absence of Dhawan. Having lost Warner before the series began, the onus was on Dhawan to provide the team with starts. With Saha not coming to the party and Manish Pandey not justifying the huge price tag on him, his words rightly captures the plight of SRH that is increasingly dependant on Dhawan.
When SRH takes on KX1 Punjab in Hyderabad tonight, SRH will be hoping that Dhawan will play and come out all guns blazing. KX1 Punjab too has an experienced bowling unit and SRH will need all the experience of Dhawan to counter them. With so much cricketing knowledge, rarely do Gavaskar’s observations fail. Fingers crossed for tonight’s mouth-watering prospect.
