Tired of seeing train coaches in blue ? Change could be imminent

To be fair, the paint on a train doesn’t really affect the comfort of a passenger. You might want cleaner bathrooms, better facilities, improved space and much more inside and the paint outside will probably be the last thing you are concerned about. However if it helps building a fresher image to Indian Railway, it is not a bad move. After all the blue body paint was getting a bit dull and old, so we could soon see a mix of teak and fawn shades, with further improvements at a later stage .

Infact, Changing the body colour of train has already been done. Tejas express has bright yellow and orange colours, Humsafar AC 3 tier appears in blue and orange and even a paintless Antyodaya express has been on the show. However apart from such scattered efforts, Indian Railway has now taken a decision to test a new paint on the standard sleeper coaches of the mail/express. Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and Railway Board Chairman Ashwani Lohani inspected the initial experiment. The new paint scheme of teak and fawn shades will be tested on a few trains to begin with. The board will wait for further feed back and a call on changing the paint will be taken then.

This initiative of ICF(Integral coach factory)designed sleeper coaches was given to northern railways along with National Institute of Design,(NID)Ahmedabad. The new colour scheme will initially be tested in a few coaches. Nitin Chowdhary, the Chief public relations officer of northern railways said that the colour scheme of fawn and teak has been given a tentative kod and that they will make more improvements to it based on the guidelines they receive from the top.
