IPL 2018: Delhi put forward huge target in a rain-interrupted match: RR fighting back

Rajasthan Royals need 152 runs in 12 overs. In a rain-interrupted match, RR scored 196/6 in 17.1 overs after match revised to 18 overs.

Delhi Daredevils’ Rishabh Pant attained the orange cap on Wednesday after he scored 69 off 29 balls against Rajasthan Royals in New Delhi. In a rain-curtailed match, Delhi Daredevils were invited to bat first and they lost Colin Munro early but Prithvi Shaw and captain Shreyas Iyer held their nerves and took on the Royals bowling attack. The two compiled a partnership of 74 runs for the second wicket in 6.4 overs before Shaw gave a simple catch to Shreyas Gopal off his own bowling. The DD opener was dismissed for 47 off 25 that included four sixes and four boundaries.

The bottom-placed Delhi Daredevils are in desperate need of a victory after suffering a 13-run defeat at the hands of table-toppers Chennai Super Kings. They will face an inconsistent Rajasthan Royals at home and the new skipper Shreyas Iyer will be hoping to repeat the way DD performed against KKR at home to pick up the much-needed win. The home side can take confidence from the fact that they have performed terrific with the bat in the previous two matches and will hope they can continue to do the same against Rajasthan.
