Karnataka Polls 2018 : Jan Ki Baat Opinion Poll Results Out

Jan Ki Baat has published its opinion poll ahead of the all-important Karnataka Assembly elections. As per the on-ground survey that entails a sample size of 1.2 lakh respondents, as things stand, there is set to be a swing in comparison to the 2013 elections.

In 2013, the Congress had stormed to power by jumping from 80 to 122 seats, while the BJP had fallen from 110 seats to 40. The JD(S), meanwhile, had bagged 40 seats compared to its tally of 28 in 2008.

However, in 2018, Jan Ki Baat predicts that it is the BJP that is rising and the Congress and JD(S) that are falling.

Jan Ki Baat predicts that the BJP, for which Prime Minister Narendra Modi, party president Amit Shah and former Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa are campaigning extensively, could win between 102-108 seats in the 224-seat assembly.

Meanwhile, the Congress, spearheaded by Rahul Gandhi and chief minister Siddaramaiah could win 72-74 seats and the JD(S) could win 42-44 seats in the 224-seat assembly.

In terms of voteshare, the Jan Ki Baat survey predicts that the BJP could get 40% of the votes, while the Congress could get 38% of the votes. The JD(S), meanwhile, could get 20% voteshare, as per the survey.

Accordingly, as per the Jan Ki Baat survey, the BJP could be the single largest party with a big edge over the Congress, though there’s no clear majority for any party. The survey predicts a repeat of 2008 and a hung assembly in Karnataka with the Congress reduced to double digits.
