Case filed against former union minister Renuka Chowdary

A criminal case has been registered against former Union minister Renuka Chowdary on the direction of the First Class Additional Munsif Magistrate of Khammam.

Bhukya Chandrakala, wife of Ramji Naik filed a criminal case against Ms Chowdary for cheating her husband who died of mental agony.

Ms Chandrakala said that Ms Chowdary took Rs 1.20 crore in separate instalments from Ramji Naik on the assurance of giving him a Congress ticket of Wyra Assembly constituency in 2014 elections.

“My husband was not given the Wyra ticket and he asked Renuka Chowdary to return the amount. Renuka refused to pay the money and used filthy language against my husband,” Ms Chandrakala said.

Ms Chowdary’s assistants, Pullaiah, Rama Rao, Ranga Reddy, Pulla Reddy and Dayakar Reddy allegedly abused Ramji Naik based on caste. Ramji died on October 14, 2010 as he was allegedly unable to accept the cheating done by the former Minister.
